America’s Family Pet Expo 2011 in Orange County, California donated 134 booth spaces to local shelters and rescue organizations, which resulted in the adoption of 682 animals, breaking last year’s record of 668 animals. 563 dogs, 88 cats, 12 rats, seven guinea pigs, seven chinchillas and five rabbits were placed into new homes. Pet adoption sponsor VCA Animal Hospitals provided certificates for a free first exam at its hospitals to ensure each adoptee joins their forever family with a healthy start. With 2011’s new adoption numbers, America’s Family Pet Expo has helped more than 7,082 animals find forever homes since 1996.

In addition to helping hundreds of pets find forever homes, WPA also supports rescue efforts across other platforms such as Forever Wild. Whether an animal was left in a foreclosed home, rejected by the animal entertainment industry, confiscated from Fish & Game due to its dangerous nature or inability to adapt to the domestic environment, these exotic animals have been rescued and rehabilitated, and are now free to enjoy the stable environment the Forever Wild sanctuary provides.

This adorable pup is 1 of many pets that have been at AFPE's Adoption Area in hopes of finding a new forever home. http://t.co/zMBbEFP2    Here's something ironic: Rumor has it that Julius Caesar, Henri II, Charles XI, & Napoleon all had aelurophobia-they were afraid of cats!    We're busy planning for America's Family Pet Expo in Puyallup. What events did you enjoy last year that you would like to see again?
